American Highlights/diSuvero at the Frederik Meijer Gardens (Spacetime CC Inc)

In 2006, The French Government considered American Sculptor, Mark di Suvero, for an exhibition. This promotional DVD highlights Mark’s most recent work at the time: his exhibition at the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, his collection at Storm King Art Center, his installation in Liberty Plaza Park/Ground Zero and features in several prominent art journals.

Here’s a little known fact: world-renowned, sculptor, Mark di Suvero established some of his earliest artistic roots here in Grand Rapids back in 1977 with his piece on Calder Plaza entitled Motu Viget.

In 2002, the beloved artist returned to the area to install an exhibition at the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park.

This piece captures not only the dramatic installation of two of di Suvero’s multi-story tall steel sculptures, Iroquois and Johnny Appleseed, but we also get a glimpse into the artist’s creative sole in a rare interview granted by the artist himself.

International sculptor, Mark di Suvero rules the Storm King Art Center in Mountainville, New York with his personal 40 acre plot known as the di Suvero fields.

In the late fall of 2007, commissioned by the artist himself, I took a small crew cross country in a motorhome…braving an early blizzard in the Poconos Mountains to capture the beauty of this artist’s work in one of the country’s most spectacular outdoor sculpture parks.
