Several coho salmon were caught with a mix of dock/pier fishing and trolling methods. The perch action was hit or miss on the north pier, but some nice ones were caught on wigglers. Some very nice sized fish have been available this season, great to see a healthy population of both Brook Trout and Brown Trout. Anglers looking for summer run steelhead and brown trout on the pier didnt have any luck. For lake trout, try jigging cut baits in deeper water (~150+ feet). If you are visiting the area & bringing your own boat, please be courteous of other anglers. There were good numbers of fish caught from 80 to 120 feet of water. The breakwall was good for walleye, but many were undersize. We are currently under some lower than normal water levels across much of our region, some rainfall is in the forecast which will help our streams get back to more of a normal level for this time of year. Trout were found all throughout the water column in depths of 50 to 100 feet. Near shore fish were responding to both natural and artificial baits so be sure to give multiple presentations. Anglers using body baits were catching better sized walleye, while crawlers were catching more fish with lots of undersized walleye mixed in. Leland: Anglers targeting lake trout were very successful trolling 1-2 miles out, using spoons and spinners. One boat trolling within the harbor marked fish; however, only one coho was caught. There were also a few Atlantic salmon picked up, but the fishing slowed down in that area at the moment as well due to changing weather and water temperatures. Lake trout seemed to be hitting on a variety of setups, such as spin n glows and spin doctors.
