Faulkville- Charles Elbert Futch, age 78, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Candler Hospital.  Mr. Futch was born September 20, 1942 in Statesboro, GA to the late Charlie K. Futch and Mildred Louise Gibson Futch Carson.  He was a graduate of Bryan County High School and was a veteran of the United States Army where he served two tours of duty in Vietnam.  Mr. Futch retired as a structural mechanic for Gulfstream Aerospace with over 30 years of service.  After retirement, he served as security for the corps of engineers in Savannah and the social security administration in Statesboro.  Mr. Futch enjoyed fishing and keeping up with his neighborhood on Thompson Street while riding his buggy.  He enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and was a member of the F & AM Masonic Lodge in Bryan County 303. 

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Futch is preceded in death by one sister and two brothers-in-law Jane and Roscoe Bacon and Gary Dickerson, and two grandchildren, Emma Grace McCoy and Grayson Miller McCoy.

 

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Barbara Mallard Futch of Faulkville; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Lynn McCoy and Richie McCoy of Bulloch County; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Gwen Futch of Pembroke and Calvin and Gail Futch of Savannah; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen Dickerson of Bulloch County, Janet and Gary DuBois of Winston-Salem, Brenda and Chuck Farmer of Richmond Hill, Wanda and Thomas Kangeter of Thunderbolt, Charlene and Randall Butler of Pembroke and Vicki and Pat Hughes of Pembroke; and four grandchildren, Parker Tatum McCoy, Brodie McCoy, Maggie Bren McCoy and Mollie Sophia McCoy.
